Before taking office, Musella was ranked 11th on Insider NJ's 2021 list of "Most Influential Millennials" in New Jersey politics. Musella was honored by the NJ Globe for being selected as having one of the best run campaigns of 2021. He continues to gain recognition, being ranked 13th most influential millennial in New Jersey politics in 2022 and moving up to 10th in 2023 by Insider NJ.
Musella, who is not afraid to take a controversial stance, distinguished himself from his Republican colleagues in Parsippany by fulfilling his campaign promise of voting against every tax increase since being elected.
